Out of Control

January 31, 2012

Saturday was my day with Kris. My soul-sister. We do the same thing when we meet for our “city day.”  Lunch at Atlantic Grill, girl-talk, and shopping.  Kris had her usual chopped salad, hold everything but the chick-peas, and I had my usual tuna tartar and glass of Chardonnay.

We were there for all of ten minutes, before Kris delved into my now well-established racy literary obsession. “You’re out of control,” she so eloquently declared.

Kris at Lunch

Kris had just finished telling me, "Put those fucking books down. You need to get out of this fucking fantasy world of yours." I, of course, said, "No."

“I can’t help it. Those Special Ops guys with their six-pack abs, Glock wielding shooting skills, bulging biceps, and deep blue or green or chocolate penetrating eyes drive me nuts,”  I said wistfully.

Kris rolled her eyes, shook her head, and muttered, “Absolutely out of control.”

*Sidebar: Ladies, I am currently obsessed with Maya Banks and her KGI series. She’s prolific. So, if you like her, she’s got loads more for you to enjoy. But, I’d start with that series. It’s suspenseful romance. And, it’s good.

After determining that I am indeed, “out of my ever-lovin’ mind” (another Krisism), we paid our bill and headed out so we could get “out of control” together. Get your minds out of the gutter. I’m talking shopping!

We headed to Wink, Scoop and The ShoeBox. Now, Mark is usually prepared for my days with Kris. He lies in wait. He knows I’ll be bounding in the door with a bunch of “must-have” purchases. But, this past Saturday, was no such day for me. I was not a shopper. I was an enabler. And, I liked it.

At Wink, Kris tried on a jacket. “What do you think?” She asked.

“Get it,” I immediately answered.

“Seriously?” Kris was not so sure.

“Definitely.” So, she did.

Kris Jacket

Said jacket.

At Scoop, Kris came out of her dressing room wearing a dress. With a raised eyebrow, she inquired, “Well?”

“Get it,” I immediately said.

“You think?”

“Yes.” So, she did. I was loving this. I hadn’t bought a thing so far. But, could I hold out when we hit The Shoebox? That was the question.

Kris and Me at Scoop

Kris at the Scoop counter, paying for her goods. "I'm so proud of you for buying, and me for abstaining!"

At The Shoebox, Kris modeled a pair of sky-high black heels. Without even waiting for her inquiry, I said, “You have to get them. They’ll go perfectly with the dress you just bought.”

“You’re right. I’m getting them,” she easily replied.

Kris and Eva

Kris is with our girl, Eva. She's "helped" us with quite a number of shoe purchases, in the past. Saturday, only Kris was successful, which made me feel like a success.

We were both getting the hang of this dynamic. It would appear that my out-of-control erotica literary habit has helped to curb my once famous shopping addiction. It’s a miracle.

Now, Kris has it bad.

Kris and Her Bags

One woman's determination to aid our ailing economy. Can you say "recession?"

Love it.

So, while Kris is taunting me about my current racy novel addiction, it would appear that I am now fully armed with my own arsenal of teasing ammunition. Payback’s a bitch!

Next time, I’m bringing one of my books with me so I’ll have something to read, while she’s trying on her clothes. Pure genius, if I do say so myself.

What is your current obsession?

They’re different. Just as good, if not better in its’ own way. The guys are all military men. I love them. Maya Banks is a better writer.

You know how much I love my Fifty, but it’s definitely not the only “game” in town.
